Hello readers!
When winter Break was coming to an end, I decided to make a passion project. I had been wanting to create it for a long time, but never had the time. Sooo, I thought I would tell you about it and give you a little bit of backstory into one of my newfound passions.
I found out about printmaking in my sophomore year here at Southern Miss and I immediately fell in love with it. I am currently a 3x advanced student because I have chosen to take all the different forms of printmaking offered at Southern Miss… twice.
My favorite aspects about printmaking would be the carving process and the creative use of color. So over the break, I took advantage of the free time I had to work on strengthening my printmaking skills and experimenting with different colors.
For this passion project I wanted to make something that I would not normally make. I drafted up a thematic guide and went with it. I combined a space-like element with mountains then enclosed them in a diamond shape. I then broke the space using the rings of Saturn and what I see as the astroid belt. When inking my plate, I decided to do a rainbow roll using 3 different colors while keeping yellow a constant.
